The really dumb thing about this is that it realistically has absolutely nothing to do with minors at all. That's just the smokescreen most of these people are using to justify the data trawling and user tracking, which is what they actually want.

It's generally a truism that anyone who uses "think of the children" as a defense doesn't give a single shit about the children. Except possibly to find new ways to molest them.

People have been fighting for Internet anonymity for nearly 30 years now. This is just another attempt to end-run around opposition and implement more surveillance.

The sad part is that it'll almost certainly get hammered through no matter how many people are opposed to it. Just like with AI, there's far too much benefit to be had for anyone in power to give a shit about the users.
