There's this weird thing Trump and his team figured out during his first term, that I think they figured out accidentally but now do intentionally, where you just do so much crazy shit that the news stories kind of just get forgotten. Like does anyone remember the Signalgate scandal? That's a story from a bygone era (a few months ago). Or going back further, does anyone remember when Trump was impeached in 2019 for extorting Zelensky, threatening to stop supporting Ukraine unless Ukraine made up scandals against Biden. I've talked to people who totally didn't know that was a thing when I brought it up to them, even though it was front-page news for months. It has just been overwritten with crazier shit.

they didn't 'figure' anything out. It was a literally a Nazi(and then later, Soviet) propaganda strategy.
