These are not the stupidest things but these were so fucking irrational to me that they genuinely made me mad and took me out of the movie.
1. Midsommar A woman jumps to her death from a cliff right in front of everyone and then is bludgeoned because she wasn't quite dead yet. Get the fuck out of there. I don't care if you're prick of a boyfriend is trying to do research for his doctorate. Get the fuck out of there!
2. Speak No Evil (2024) This is might be the angriest I've been with characters in a movie. The parents are just incompetent, negligent and knowingly put their child in a dangerous and volatile situation. It was bad enough that they went back for her toy but I can just about follow the logic with that. But the decision to stay was inexcusable to me. All of the red flags and alarm bells with McAvoy and his wife. I was done, I hoped the children would be as OK as they could possibly be at the end of movie but I wanted all the adults to get rolled over by a steamroller.
My blood is boiling just thinking back to it.
You know what. I'm going to add it to my most hated movies list. Not necessarily the worst but ones which make me the most mad. For years it's been these three, 2012, Rent and Splice (there's another horror film where supposed geniuses make moronic decisions left right and centre) I'm adding Speak No Evil to that list.
