Al Swearengen from Deadwood. At the start of the series, he seems like a typical villain and I was hoping he'd be killed by the end of the season, but damn, he definitely does grow as a character and, compared to the show's actual villain, can almost seem a gentleman at times.

He's still a repulsive character, especially when you consider he probably still beats his prostitutes at least, until he becomes so injured/ill that he's no longer able, but he still somehow managed to win me over despite that. He's a character that I love but one that I hate to love.
