The_cranky_hermit 09/14/25 11:15:14 AM #17: | Any projection will be inaccurate, and any method will have tradeoffs. You can't peel an orange and make it into a flat sheet of peel, and you can't do the same for the earth's surface without distorting the continent's shapes or relative sizes. Mercator isn't really "wrong"; its intended purpose was to aid sea navigation, and anything you might to do improve its accuracy in representing the shape or size of countries would make it less useful for that purpose. In any event, the Robinson model is, I think, a pretty good compromise for visualizing the earth's layout. --- http://thecrankyhermit.shoutwiki.com Year-by-year analysis of the finest gaming has to offer, and (eventually) more! ...
