I'm not sure how to compare it to the very first time I saw FFT 25+ years ago, but it was clearly made to be a direct improvement on all of FFT's systems, and it accomplishes that easily. If it fails for someone who likes FFT, either the story isn't gripping enough (understandable) or playing Fell Seal at a desk just doesn't hit the same as playing FFT did in front of the TV at that point in your life.
