90. Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES)

This is the first of a couple games on the list where I've spent extensive amounts of my life playing the game, but have never actually completed it.

My first exposure to all three of the NES Mario's came from Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES, and 2 was such a different experience than the original or 3 that, while I may have enjoyed them more, I found myself always having reasons to come back to 2. Having four playable characters with different play styles meant that I could have four different experiences with the same game as a kid, and that definitely appealed to me.

Super Mario Bros. 2 is the least "Mario" of all Mario games I've played, and so maybe for that reason it isn't as special to me as some of the other games in the series, but I always found the music to be charming, and I'll never not be satisfied by the sound made when digging up an item from the ground.

89. Ratchet and Clank (PS4)

I feel like the phrase I keep repeating with some of the lower games on this list is "this is a game in a series I love, but not my favourite game in the series", and because of that it can get hard to go into detail on some games without spoiling my thoughts on others, and the PS4 reboot of the original Ratchet and Clank is one of those games.

Everything about Ratchet and Clank appeals to me. The humour, characters, dumb guns, even the mini-games. I have a lot of nostalgia for the first game in this series as well, so by both providing a twist on that as well as including everything else I mentioned, I had a feeling this game would end up on the list the second I started playing it, and I was right.

I probably would have actually enjoyed it more if they directly copied the first game simply because of my nostalgia, but I thought the changes they made were interesting nonetheless. The single knock I can give to this game is that it was too short. I could easily play another ten hours of Ratchet and Clank.
