I don't know if there is any kind of interest in this here, but I felt like posting.

I just finished rewatching the first Digimon Adventure yesterday. After pretending the number 2 doesn't exist, I went and watched the first two episodes of Tri (okay this sentence doesn't make much sense but carry on).

So far, so good. I love how newer anime technology lets us see the same old Digimon fighting with more than one animation each. Their attacks look gorgeous. Birdramon looks specially good here. The evolution sequences look cool too.

The music is a remastered version of every single track from the first anime, so nostalgia is everything here. Some tracks are great, but so far I prefer the originals. It sounds like some weird eletronic, while the old ones were more like classic anime songs. I love the ending, though.

Not much plot yet, mostly awkward teenage interactions, but it seems they are somewhat basing the plot on the one from Tamers/Savers, with digimon invading Earth and a government organization dealing with them. I approve of that. It worked greatly for both anime.

Characters are interesting to what. Some have changed literally nothing. Taichi is still a dumbass, Yamato is still smarter than him, Mimi is Mimi, Takeru seems to get more chill every new season. Sora not being the calm and wise one is weird, though.

So far I like it. Watching the first anime was a nostalgia trip, and I did discover it was good in ways I did not remember, but old anime is hard to watch. This one seems like it could do everything the first one did well with more resources and a less episodic format.
