I would argue that it's not, because it has a practical combat purpose. Keep in mind that shields *are* still used today, although a riot shield is less able to stop a bullet. If you could easily carry a shield which could stop a bullet, you'd be much better off than somebody who doesn't have one when running for cover since it'd reduce your likelihood of being host.
