TopicI'm very disappointed at the Yooka' Laylee reviews.

nobody would have bitched about the levels in tooie being complex if they weren't so devoid of interesting platforming and if they weren't filled to the brim with lazy backtracking and padding
mumbo is the worst part of the game

Right, because Banjo-Kazooie had so much "interesting platforming" when there's like one platforming element per level if you're lucky, save for climbing the same damn tree three times or more in the exact same way each time in Click Clock Wood.

MM: Literally zero platforming
TTC: I guess there's one or two areas where you have to move across platforms for four jumps or so, should you choose not to fly?
Clanker's: You do one, maybe two things near the ceiling I think? I think you walk across one narrow path one time, at least.
Bubblegloop: You jump between large islands and up that chain of shock spring pads, and there's a timed narrow bridge
Freezeezy: Literally zero platforming
Gobi's Valley: There's that magic carpet elevator thing and that's about it
MMM: Moving across huge chairs to not make noise is the extent of it
RBB: That barrel setup in the corner for a jinjo, the engine room, and some bridges
CCW: Hey, actual platforming! And it's really frustrating and not very fun!

SM64 is a game about platforming. You can kinda tell because your jump goes more than a foot off the ground, Mario is actually agile and can wall jump do all sorts of huge boosted jumps on his own, and platforms above hazards are everywhere. Banjo-Kazooie is a collectathon adventure game with light platforming elements.
