How do they make money off of this?

Ads and views

Yeah, but you don't make hundreds of dollars off of one video like that, do you?

You can make thousands. EDIT: He's not making 59k but at 110 thousand subs he's making a lot plus this video will blow up like crazy. When all is said and done if he has ads this one video might be $50,000 in his pocket.

The top of YouTube is making almost 250k per video with ads.

Not sure where you got those figures, but you're WAY off.

PewDiePie is the highest paid YouTube personality and he only makes about $10,000,000 a year. He uploads at least one video a day and each one hits around 2,500,000+ views. If your figures were right, he'd be making closer to $90,000,000 a year.

EDIT: Also, YouTube pays by actual views on videos, not your subscriber count. Kid is averaging around 45K views, with occasional spikes to much higher. He's gonna make more than the NES Classic is worth but checking around a 50K vid pays like $375 from YouTube. Ad content can push that higher, assuming a channel that small can get ad partnership
