When did I say that? I said Damn was good, just cus it's ranked low doesn't mean it's bad, it's Kendrick we're talking about, something getting ranked power doesn't mean it's bad, just that it's less good. I'd take the lowest ranked Kendrick album over most other mainstream rap easily.

But having a consistent and deeper message can make it better, which is why I love To Pimp A Butterfly so much. The music stands out on it's on for it's layers, density, and uniqueness and then the overlying lyrical message on top of that is just icing on the cake.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for another TPAB or GKMC level storied album that benefits from start to finish listens but honestly I really wasn't actually expecting him to be able to do that a 3rd time. I feel like he's kinda said all he has to say in any interesting way. There were bits and pieces of him doing it on Damn but not in any meaningful or consistent way.
