| Topic | My dad is planning on getting life insurance |

Taking out life insurance, and him being a very knowledgeable driver (as in he can fake accidents...), with him getting in fights with the family all the time, it's an obvious thing to worry about. Have you tried actually talking to him? I had some end of life and the likes discussions with my parents recently, and tried to understand where they have money and the likes. My dad has a moderate whole life policy and large term life that he is planning on dropping in the next 5 years or so as he goes into full retirement and stops earning income and the policies get more expensive since they are higher mortality rates. He is 63 now and is slowly ramping down how much he works. As an adult child sometimes it is your responsibility to start these sort of discussions with your parents. Do light probing on seeing if he is depressed, see how he is handling the situation with your mom and sister, I find if you come at it as seeking advice, like I respect you so much as a man and a father, how do you handle mom and sis acting like that when you are trying to provide, they open up a lot more to you. If he is depressed, let him know you are willing to talk and suggest getting counseling. And talk to your mom and sister too. --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
