Seriously though. Why do some people think it's a good idea to piss off the employees who handle your food?

Because I shouldn't have to bribe the driver to do his damn job correctly.

I don't like tipping for pizza...so I pick it up myself. You want to be lazy, pay for it.

You do pay for it. I've never ordered a pizza for deliver that didn't tack on a delivery fee. Why the hell am I paying extra for delivery if that fee isn't going to the delivery driver?

The delivery fee usually does not go directly to the delivery guy. He might get as little as 5% of that fee to help pay for his vehicle's fuel and maintenance. The fee covers the rising cost of ingredients, hourly wages for employees other than the drivers, the store's automobile insurance for non-owned vehicles and all other business expenses. It shouldn't be considered a payment to the delivery guy for their service. Ask the delivery guy if he gets any of the fee.

I know the delivery fee doesn't go to the driver, but you didn't explain what it is there for. Why would a pizza cost more to make if you are delivering it than if it is take out? Its the same ingredients. Its the same hourly employees making it. The only reasonable explanation is that it would cost more because you have to pay a guy to drive it out to your house, but apparently that's not what its for since they expect you to make up that difference on your own when once he gets to your house.
