I don't get how Trayvon Martin being killed in self-defense in a scenario where know all the context has anything to do with the Death Penalty in a trial where we don't know the context.

If these teens had missed, tried to shoot again and Deserae had smashed their faces in with an iron bar, It would have been justified. At least going by what little infornation we currently know.

Nobody is happy that Trayvon is dead except some "progressives" who like to parade his corpse around. It's just that 99.7% of people who actually followed the case understand Zimmerman just defended himself.

If Trayvon had survived the shot or if Zimmerman had been beaten to death, and Trayvon was then promptly arrested for attempted murder/murder or felony assault with no media attention. Nobody would be calling for the death penalty. He'd just get a lengthy prison sentence and be reformed.

There is no "Cut-off point" for self-defense.

In terms of death penalty. I'm not one to talk because I oppose it outright. But I think even among its supporters the overwhelming majority would agree that the State Sponsored Execution of Children is wrong.
