Does this include Romeo and Juliet adaptations? Kind of a tangent but I do think that R&J shouldn't be in the high school curriculum. It shouldn't be banned or anything, but there's plenty of other good Shakespeare out there to replace it with that doesn't have teen suicide as a huge part of the story.

Why? It's the perfect cautionary tale about "teenage love."

I think it glorifies teen suicide. I don't think it's a cautionary tale about teenage love at all. I think it's a glorification of it.

I think you read the story wrong then. It's about the dangers of teenage stupidity.

How is a teenager going to interpret it though? And I definitely think all of the film adaptations of it glorify it rather than show it as dangerous/foolish.

Not the fault of the work that teenagers are morons and intepret it (and derivative works like movies) as "romantic."

I'm not saying it should be banned or anything, but I think there are better plays to use to teach Shakespeare to 15 year olds.
