Probably 80% of the people voting weren't even born yet, so none of them experienced SMB revitalizing the industry and therefore 1985 is of little to no meaning to them. And I'm one of these people. I knew right away that the winner of this contest wasn't going to be an NES or SNES era year for that very reason. As much as this board cherishes the PSX era years, there are many people voting who were babbies at that time and didn't get their start until the PS2 or, hell, even later.
