I was more willing to donate to them because it WAS a relatively small business that relied on donations to stay afloat (so consider it the early version of modern-day crowdfunding/Patreon/Twitch donation support), and because the game as a whole was pretty fun. $10 a month (give or take) over a period of years eventually adds up. A shame most of the stuff I bought with the in-game money I got from those donations is account-locked, though. I haven't played for years at this point, and I could dump a TON of extremely rare/expensive stuff on random players as a present if I wanted (which is basically the same thing I did the first time I quit the game for a while).
