The US has a real problem with protecting the futures of the accused and the guilty, which is ironic considering the absolute shit ragging they go through in public when they're accused, then get such a slap on the wrist when they're found guilty. This hacker absolutely should not face more time than the rapists. Of course, whatever he's facing is very rarely going to be what he sentenced by. He did break the law, and hacking is a federal crime.
