You are the first person I have ever seen say they had a problem with Katakana but were fine with Hiragana.

It's because we spent almost a whole semester learning Hiragana first, then had to learn Katakana in a matter of weeks. I was still trying to keep track of which symbol matched which by the time we moved on to Kanji.

If I was just learning how to speak Japanese, I might be alright, but keeping track of three separate alphabets was too much.
