Topic	Which language has the steepest learning curb?

I did okay with Hiragana, struggled with Katakana, and just said "fuck it" when we got to Kanji. I imagine Chinese is about as bad. Chinese is 'kanji' only as far as writing goes. You are the first person I have ever seen say they had a problem with Katakana but were fine with Hiragana. Both languages kinda balance each other out I think, Mandarin has the tones and it uses more hanzi than Japanese, but Japanese has more readings (and meanings) per kanji. --- Kun menee sutta pakoon, tulee karhu vastaan.
