Officially became an unconditional permanent resident on May 23, 2007. So this topic is just short of that mark. Feels like a long time ago (if not a lifetime) but 10 years, wow, that's a while. It took a long time and a lot of money. I remember how happy I was that I'd be able to work and participate in society.

I'm glad to not be in America at this time. This is after most of my time in the US was under GWB and his policies. When the status fully expires at the end of this month I'll feel a little bummed that I didn't relocate to Portland or Seattle but I would not want to be an immigrant in the US at this time. Even a really white one. Sadly I probably won't be going back to visit friends again any time soon.
