But one is a kill happy punisher, whilst the other is a forgiving nice guy?
they are one in the same. if you know anything you will know that God was never a kill happy punisher. if you read the Bible and do not get your understanding through the Holy Spirit then you may as well try to read a book in another tongue and interpret it on your own.
God was a kill happy punisher though, and yes I read the Bible.
He's omnipotent, knew everything that was going to happen. Every sin that man commits is gods fault. The abrahamic version of "freewill" is a farce as well. It's akin to someone putting a gun to your head and saying "you have a choice". Sure, technically it's a choice, but on ewould hardly call it free will.
Now onto the kill happy part. God knew that man was going to sin. He knew that man was going to eat the apple. The whole "test" was pointless, because if he was omnipotent he'd already known what was going to happen. All the tests that he put his followers though (telling Abraham to kill his son for example) wasn't done as a test, because God already knew how that test would have ended.
One could only imagine that god was looking forward to killing the Egyptians, or flooding the world, because he knew that was going to happen since the beginning of time.
I mean, really you only have two choices here. You either believe that god is omnipotent and all powerful, and is kill happy.
Or you believe that god isn't as powerful as you actually thought
your rhetoric is pointless, if you do not know the reason God killed what he did during the old testament then there is no reason to further indulge you. once you find out then we can talk, otherwise this conversation won't go anywhere. ---
