Like I get it, 'MC-kun syndrome', but that only goes so far when the girl is so transparent. This demands an explanation!

And then it's breakfast time. Lots of breakfast antics (more like brunch at min tbqh, who eats spicy food during breakfast?) ensue, and after a little conversation, Ren opts to focus less on Kasumi and more on the news. Nothing seems too interesting, so he—

Apparently somebody died in the park. Wait, am I supposed to be like 'OMG SO SURPRISING', really? It's a city. There's gotta be like at least a couple dozen murders a day unless it's got like a couple thousand people tops. Just how small can Suwahara be for Ren's reaction to be this one?

Kasumi drops a plate. Does she know? The question has no answer, cause Ren quickly decides to just focus on getting back to school. He asks Kasumi to leave so he can change (she sewed his ruined-ass uniform back together btw - wouldn't he have at least one or two backup ones? Going to school with the exact same uniform every day seems a bit gross), and her response is that he's got nothing to be embarrassed about. SHE'S WATCHING YOU GET CHANGED DAILY BRO, RUN WHILE YOU CAN

Outside, there's a brief argument. Surprising no one, Ren is a(n uncaring) ladykiller. More surprisingly though...

"Besides, when it comes to popularity with girls, you're actually—"

"Completely indifferent to it. Especially when it comes to you."

So he actually does know? That surprises me if true, though it's a pleasant surprise. It's nice to have an MC with some level of emotional intelligence. Like it's not THAT hard to notice if somebody is crushing on you, especially when it's this blatant. So at least acknowledging it and saying 'not interested' helps make things more believable tbqh.

Regardless though, off to school go our leading ladies (because Ren is girly looking ha ha ha get it I'm so clever). Ren tries to persuade Kasumi to go in ahead of him to spare her some negative attention, but all this does is motivate her to grab him and come in together. I suspect the above quoted line doesn't mean what i thought it did...

(Minor note for later: Apparently Ren's only friends are/were Kasumi, Shirou and Rea. Interesting.)

Lunchtime arrives and this ominous quote is dropped.

"And why exactly should I have to hang out with a bunch of girls I've never even spoken with before?"
