Morrowind had an amazing quest log/system that felt very organic and immersive, which required you to pay attention to details.

For example,

NvY5LUV

, as opposed to any modern system where you can just mash enter through a mission briefing, and follow the waypoint on your HUD. Convenient? Yes but it kills some immersion/exploration.

Also, some shit like this.

That's kind of awesome!

It certainly is. But the journal had a major flaw. Everything was entered as you came across it. Entries couldn't be sorted by questline. So I often found myself looking things up online because I wasn't able to find a name or location amongst the many, many entries in the journal. It became especially difficult if I took a side track and ended up with lots of new, unrelated entries.

I have read that Tribunal improved the journal with an option to sort entries based on questline. But I never played that.
