There absolutely is a parallel between this and violence in games. (Or even like when people used to say anyone who likes games like Guitar Hero are just wannabe musicians.) You can slaughter a nation in a game and even enjoy it; doesn't mean you want to do it in real life. They're not necessarily linked. Even if there were a real life interest, the only thing that matters is the ability to separate fiction from reality. Some people can't do that and that's absolutely a problem.
