It's not even what the food is.

It's the proportions.

That and, I'm not sure if this is only in America, but eating is such a macho thing in America where people seemingly try to eat a big steak or rack of ribs to one up each other and, at least in my house growing up, food was forced on you if you said you were done as if leaving leftovers was a cardinal sin. You don't need to finish your plate, actually. Put it in a bag and eat it later instead of eating it all now and being hungry later.

I'm so glad I don't have much an appetite on account of my stomach being sensitive, which may be from my bad diet, but I'm quite skinny for having the stereotypical nerd lifestyle.

Just because you can eat, doesn't mean you should.

I think this is it as well. I'm always amazed whenever I go to a fast food place or a restaurant and each meal is 1500 to 2000+ calories, and that's just for one meal. Just eating fast food three times a day probably adds 3000 to 5000 calories to your daily intake, and the majority of people don't do nearly enough physical activity to warrant that many calories.
