For the record, I'd like to explain what the intent of the VGC gauntlet was: it was meant to be a repository of video game characters from all places. It was meant to be encyclopedic, with tags that allowed you to play a variety of sub-gauntlets. I think charon has done an admirable job of carrying the gauntlet on after my initial push with it. There is no need to limit this type of gauntlet to arbitrary requirements - the goal is for any character in a video game to be eligible. My desire was to start with characters with the most appearances and the most impact to kick it off and for it to trickle down from there, regardless of appearances.

If people have a problem with that, then charon, as he does run the gauntlet now, is free to change it in any ways he wishes. I would ask he let me download it first before he eradicates the "non-video game characters" though.

What disappoints me is that the people who create and administer gauntlets are berated by individuals who have no stake in them. These individuals put in no effort. They also apparently have no culture judging by the language they use about people when they aren't even there. In fact, charon has gone beyond the number of non-video game originating characters in proportion to what I had, and I support it. The 28th male lead of Suikoden II is no more or less relevant to video gaming than Doctor Fate, who has appeared in over 10 separate games. Everyone's gaming experience is different. To denigrate people who have played a critically acclaimed and massively successful game because they would like to vote for that character in a gauntlet, which is a fucking game, WHICH IS A FUCKING PIECE OF ENTERTAINMENT, is truly a sad and ultimately embarassing thing to do.

We're all entitled to share our opinions, but no one is entitled to insult me behind my back and suffer no consequences for it. It has reflected very poorly on that individual and it will be remembered.

Again, the point of the VGC gauntlet originally was to be encyclopedic and all-encompassing. It was meant to encompass the experiences of any player, to grow and expand so anyone could find those great characters they love. To discriminate about those characters is just as bad as these people who dismiss someone's rankings because, say, the ranker ranked a film lower than they would.

I remember when the discussion of Disney's roster first occurred and the drama it caused. I remember finding it so insane that the number just couldn't be expanded. I don't know what made me think of that.
