Take Two is definitely going to end up getting severe backlash for going out of their way to kill modding; its honestly the only reason GTAV has had such a long lifespan (cuz really, all their online DLC is basically 'buy our shark cards for real money and play fucking hot wheels races!! fuck giving you a larger variety of heists or some meaty online story mode dlc!!'

Bethesda will also get a backlash, because the current modding system isn't broken. Modders on PC that do huge awesome mods already are supported via donations and such; beth just wants a cut of the pie despite having done nothing to deserve it (the modders are the ones doing the work, not beth).

The T2 situation is far worse though, as there were quite a few very large awesome ambitious projects being done by modders for gta5 (adding the RDR map to gta5, adding liberty city etc) and they just effectively killed all of it. T2 is just overall a greedy scumbag parent company and rockstar needs to hurry up and buy their freedom from them before T2s shitty decisions harms them and their IPs in the eyes of consumers to a irrevocable degree (and tbh, this mod killing crap has probably done a ton of damage already)
