mnk, did you try the Ever Oasis demo? I downloaded it last night but didn't have an opportunity to dig into it. I liked what I saw in the Treehouse stream though.

I'm playing it now. Already I'm liking what I'm seeing from the oasis management, and I can tell from the registry that there's going to be quite a variety of characters to recruit with different weapons, skills and innate traits (like having one character in your party will reduce damage from specific enemy types, while another boosts healing powers, or another has the ability to mine). I counted 62 spaces for characters, presumably all of which can be added to your party.

Combat is fine so far. Limited options, but I hear according to the manual that you get more over time, which makes sense. Something like leveling up a Seedling's Bloom Booth unlocks new combat abilities for them. Dunno how it would work for the other races.

Apparently camera control sucks if you don't have a New 3DS. The C-stick controls it just fine if you do, but otherwise it's just using L to get the camera to change to the direction you're facing? Demo doesn't support the CPP either, but maybe that's just the demo and the full game will. Otherwise yikes, what an oversight.

Sadly 3D doesn't look as nice as I was hoping. Depth is good, but it actually makes outlines grainier. The game still looks really nice overall, though.

I read that the demo automatically ends as soon as you level up the oasis, so don't rush into that if there's still more exploring or things you want to do.
