I'm currently replaying Super Mario RPG. It's a crying shame that it never got a follow up.
N64 went with a cartridge, Square went with Playstation, and even their reconciliations over the years have never brought back any of the characters or events from the game. All we got was a Geno cameo in the first Mario & Luigi game and that was just the doll, not the traveler who possessed it.
Maybe this generation, they'll make a follow-up to SMRPG.
"Mario's friends return! Kids, ask your parents who these characters are."
