I still don't think it's the smart solution but apparently it's happening anyway so whatever.

One thing you're neglecting is that the knowledge the teachers can shoot back can act as a deterrent in itself. The only thing most mass shooters really have in common is they pick a location where their potential targets won't be able to effectively fight back.
