I'm not going to sit in the theater, enjoy 80% of the film, and then leave in a snit because the last few scenes reminded me that they ruined a favored love interest of mine from my childhood. I'm just going to move on to the next something else and curse the day that Sam Raimi refused to allow Venom his rightful spot as the primary antagonist of the third Spider-Man film. That's really what this all comes down to. The never-ending cycle of reboots and revisions started because he wouldn't let Spider-Man's then-most-popular antagonist be the focal point of the third film because the character was created after Raimi's time as a kid reading comic books. Spider-Man's love interest doesn't have to be Mary Jane Watson. But if she's going to be MJ, they've got to do her right. She can't be some quirky weirdo like she is in that half-assed "Ultimate" comic universe. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
