By that logic, the fact that you can fly planes, drive boats, and shoot guns is also bad design. As is muggings, heists, gun battles, and literally everything else that people who actually enjoy playing the games like about them.

And for that matter, even when it comes to cars, things like racing them, modding them, or even jumping them off the side of a mountain for shits and giggles would all be off the table, because while that at least meets the "auto" criteria, none of that is really "grand thefting".

If we shat on games for not exclusively offering a literal and nothing else, about half of all games ever made (if not more) would have to cease to exist. Including a lot of otherwise extremely well-regarded ones.
