What really gets me about this whole gun being a great deterrent thing is...
Do you really keep a loaded weapon laying around the house? I mean if you don't have kids, I guess it's not a big problem. Worst that can happen is you shoot yourself. But if you DO have kids... I mean I won't let my kids go to anyone's house if they own a gun, and they don't keep it locked up. Because it's way too easy for a kid to get their hand on a weapon, and shoot someone. It happens way too often.
People are also way more likely to shoot a member of their own house. If you live alone it's probably not that dangerous though.
Of course I have no problem with people owning guns for protection. But I'd like to see them be responsible gun owners.
I would feel.most do.not leave guns laying around except for real redneck areas. But if ur a burglar... do u risk being wrong on that? Whats the point of risking it when you can simply rob someone else? ---
