I mentioned this in another topic, but no one really gave me an answer. Some official tweeted the two memos this commission sent to state election boards, but I didn't really see anything objectionable. The memos outright say they only want info that's available publicly. What's the issue?

Here are a few reasons people are refusing to comply:

1. They requested a bunch of stuff that is blatantly not publicly accessible.

2. The information was going to go to a poorly secured website (which allegedly violates certain federal government internet policies).

3. Some pieces of information that are fine to be publicly accessed become privacy concerns when bulked together (same sort of thing as collections of unclassified things becoming classified when put together).

4. The commission didn't even send the requests to the people with the authority to do what they asked in some cases.
