The right to defend your home is one of the few conservative points I agree with. What state? Sounds awful if they break in to kill/rape/kidnap you, and you can't defend yourself. You are actually allowed to defend your home and yourself here. If the robber attacks with a bat, you're free to bludgeon him with your own bat, within reason that is. If the robber is incapacitated any further action you take is looked upon as an act of vengeance, which is not legal.
