Looks like one network cancelled it and the other picked it up. So TC isn't completely wrong.

That was way before this Comic-Con thing.

But it was never actually 'cancelled.' A crossover episode that season between Supergirl and the Flash floated the possibility that Supergirl was actually part of the Arrowverse. Not just that, it was then reported that the show was scheduled to move filming lots to move closer to the lots the CW uses for the Arrowverse shows. Then people found out it was changing networks to be with the rest of the Berlanti shows and the question switched to "to what degree is Supergirl part of the Arrowverse?" That was all Q1 2016. That summer's Comic Con further hyped up the idea that Supergirl was kind of "Arrorverse adjacent" with the trailer they released showing off all four of the Arrowverse shows, and all but confirming a crossover event across all four of their shows.

TLDR: There was never a moment where people thought the show was going to leave the air.

Yeah pretty much. The move to CW was actually something that was meant to benefit it, not because it was doing poorly or on the verge of cancellation.
