Probably gonna be in houston then

he thought Google’s low female representation wasn’t a result of sexism, but a result of men and women having different interests long before either gender thinks about joining Google

The absolutism on stuff like this is so dumb. Of course girls are turned off from tech from the day they are born, decades before they could be hired by Google. But why in the world does that preclude sexism for being a reason? Why can't it be sexism at an extremely early age that causes this?

This isn't just straw-grasping speculation. It literally explains every single question SSC poses in that post. He goes through the timeline from college, high school, middle school, elementary, pointing out that the gender imbalances are all there. But why does he just stop at elementary? He stops so close to the answer that it seems intentional. Like he discovered that the social pressure starts before elementary, and was just too embarrassed to admit it. It also explains why other cultures (India) have ~50% women in tech.
