If there's sufficient evidence infallibly tying them to the crime (like video footage, multiple impartial witnesses to the act, or very convincing DNA evidence), just string 'em up in the town square upon the guilty verdict. It's cheaper and a better deterrent. Things that are not blatantly obvious would result in prison sentences.
