Like you think the King and Queen of Spain removed him as Governer for no reason?

And Columbus is credited with starting the slave trade when he started to ship the Natives back to Europe.

No one is saying that Columbus was a great Governor. But no one is honoring Columbus for his acts in that capacity, nor excusing them. They're honoring his brave voyage that created the modern world as we know it.

Similarly, no one honors the Founding Fathers for creating a constitution that perpetuated the practice of slavery, thus relegating millions of people to a state of servitude. They honor their virtues.

Why is is this so hard to comprehend? Human beings are imperfect creatures. To expect someone from the Late Middle Ages to act like Martin Luther King when it came to race relations is unrealistic and childish.
