People literally so dumb that they oppose honoring a guy who they owe their existence in this country to. Columbus wasn't a great guy, but all of us (Americans) are here because of him.

Erikson did it first. Columbus was just one of the many who came after, only unquestionably one of the most genocidal and cruel.

Do you have any evidence that Columbus intentionally sought to destroy entire native populations?

Whether it was intentional or not, who gives a shit? They're still dead. He was not a benefactor for the natives. He wanted em out. Looted the shit out of them from day 1.

Actually it matters a great deal when you're accusing someone of genocide. There's a huge difference between 80-90% of the Indians in Hispaniola dying because of the diseases that Columbus and his men happened to bring by mere chance, and Columbus ordering the deaths of tens of thousands of people (something which he did not have the capacity to do btw)

So because most died of disease, the others that died through deliberate murder (of which you seem to suggest it could be up to 20% of their entire population), no big deal?
