I've tried to explain the concept of royalty to Americans before and why those of us who have a monarch as head of state generally are happy with it, but I have since given up since there's apparently something that doesn't translate over into the American zeitgeist when it comes to monarchies. As an American, I don't really care about another nation's leadership if the people are fine with it.
