The Republicans never ran a serious campaign against him and the Clinton campaign never took off the kid gloves. Of course he polled better! hes rn by far the most popular politician in the country. Again, IIRC, so was Clinton herself circa 2011 or so. whatever you think of him, all the actual evidence points towards him being more likely to win. I voted for Sanders in the primary! Maybe Sanders would have done better maybe he wouldn't have. (If he would have done better in the Rust Belt, for example, I think that deserves some consideration as to why) But he chose to enter the Democratic Primary and he lost it. He was not the candidate that most Democrats wanted.
