I heard that McDonalds requested people stop doing this or something, did that actually end up happening? That'd make sense, if they're worried about losing brand specificity and it's legal protections. Xerox got tied up in a similar lawsuit over people using the word 'xerox' to refer to the process of making copies democratizing the Xerox brand.
