Were they not able to find enough female heroes that they had to dig into the villain pool? Superhero Girls isn't canon to the rest of DCU. They went with familiarity and relatability over accuracy. It's a spin off for little girls, it's not meant to be this gritty action-packed comic about sex, mental disabilities, and murder.
