There was such a depth to the character that despite her complete shortcomings as a human being, you could easily be suckered in to believing her charade; that she cared for Robert at some point, that her children actually mattered most to her, that she was in fact in love with Jaime. But the last two seasons have destroyed the sense of craftsmanship that went into Cersei and have instead allowed her to stagnate as the show has focused on the more marketable stars.
