What I do is have a desktop for my main gaming and laptop for travel. My desktop plays most things on top settings and laptop plays most on high. Thing is I can upgrade my desktop as I see fit and a laptop I'll have to replace. Your gonna spend your money as you like but the main issue I have is upgrading a laptop isn't much of a thing. This may not apply to you though.

For everyone saying laptops only last 4 years I don't know what they had. In the past mine crapped out after 4 years or so and just stopped working due to heat. My last laptop I just replaced after 5 years of use because I found the settings to be to low in games. I gave it to people that don't play games and it still runs just fine with nothing broken. I think thats gone up in the quality over time from what I've seen.
