Nah. I knew I was guilty. I saw no reason to lie. Granted going 17 MPH over bumped me to the next tier of fines and I ended up paying about $500. Fortunately the traffic school part was done online.

It's not at all uncommon for the cop to just not show up, which basically means you get a free pass.

Might vary between country/state. I have heard down in Los Angeles at least, the court now find a day that works for the officer and all the folks given tickets by said officer are assigned that day. So instead of the officer being on the offender's time, it is the offenders being on the officer's time.
