It's why well funded public schools are so important, it is far easier to teach someone the right thing the first time, then to try to correct misinformation, misconceptions and misguidance. And, of course, it's no coincidence that the politicians benefiting most from this ignorance and misinformation tend to be the ones in favour of stripping down public schooling even further (not to say that simply throwing more money at schools necessarily solves the problem, but simply taking money away definitely won't). KodyKeir posted... especially if you cannot remove them from the toxic environment that fostered their belief. Which has really been the biggest issue with Covid. I can put in all the effort I want to try and convince somebody of the truth around the matter, but when they finish reading my comment and scroll down to immediately see another meme painting Covid denial as "free thinking," any progress I made on bringing them around is lost. There's a steady bombardment of validation from a very vocal community of anti-vaxxers and science deniers, and being welcomed by that is a much more comfortable, attractive prospect than letting the seeds of doubt be nurtured. --- This is my signature.
